Leo Dahlin
Born : Lund (Sweden), 8th of Oct 1974
Family: Mother and father
Leadguitarist of The Kooks
I
was born in a city in the southwest parts of Sweden called Lund, but me
and my family moved to Stockholm when I was really young. At the age of
nine I started playing classical guitar but I soon dropped that and started
playing electric guitar instead. My dad has always been a great music
fan and he´s always been very supportive when it came down to what
I wanted to do, which is to play and be in a band. He was the one who
made me discover rockmusic, and mainly artists and bands who sang in swedish,
the likes of Ulf Lundell and a swedish progressive band called The Blå
tåget (a big act in Sweden in the seventhies). Apart from this a
lot of other records were played frequently in our home, such as Bob Dylan,
José Feliciano and Santana. As a teenager the dreams of rock´n
roll stardom started to grow strong, and I started to play in a lot of
different bands. A lot of times it wasn´t easy, often it felt like
banging your head to a brickwall. But the ones who give up will never
be there when the flow begins! Believe in yourselves and the things you
do and things are bound to happen.
I
only play on Gibson guitars, nothing else will do the trick. Take
care and I´ll see you on the road somewhere.
