Name:
Michael Lohse
Born : Säter (Sweden), 14th of Feb 1968
Family: Mum and dad, two sisters and two brothers
Lead-vocalist and rythmguitarist of The Kooks.
I
was born in a small town in the middle of Sweden and moved to Stockholm
when I was eighteen years old. I´ve also lived in London for a year
and a half. Ever since I was a kid music was a major subject in my family.
My dad, who´s from Austria, used to be a singer and pianoplayer.
There was a grandpiano, guitars, violins and lots of other music instruments
at home when I grew up. Music came very natural to me. I have been writing
songs since I was twelve years old. Before The Kooks I was in a band called
Atomic
Swing where I played the electric organ. Ever since I was young I´ve
been listening to a lot of different kinds of music, bands and artists.
I´ve always been looking for good songs and melodies in the music.
My over all favourite popsong is Ever Fallen In Love with The Buzzcocks.
I like the angst in the music and songs by The Cure, and the energy in
songs by Buddy Holly, The Clash, and The Jam. I love the beats and grooves
in Motown music, such as The Four Tops, Martha Reeves and the Vendellas
and Marvin Gay, just to mention a few. I´m also a great fan of Bob
Dylan, Harry Nilsson and Tim Buckley. My
favourite singer is Harry Nilsson. Love you all, Michael.
