Laxsjön
Lake Laxsjön is part of the internal waterway Dalslands Kanal and consists of a northern and a southern basin. Sixteen sediment cores were sampled in the northwestern part of the southern basin in 1988-10-05. The uppermost part of two of these cores are shown by the radiographs below.

As shown by the black spots on the radiographs these cores were gasrich, and the sediment surface was partly covered by sulphur bacteria (Beggiatoa spp.). The organic content was high in these cores. For the core depth 0 - 2 cm the loss on ignition amounted in average to 29 %.
