The Parents Association or "Hem och skolaföreningen" at Johannes, has traditionally been the organiser of events, such as the yearly Christmas Bazaar. The Bazaar is held on the first Saturday in December and aims to raise money for the children and for charity. The event is arranged at a meeting a few months before Christmas, where class tables can be booked etc. However with the increasing role of the parent in the way that schools are run, so the activities of the Parents Association have broadened. The association considers and comments on the schools plans and objectives, which the school must present to the local authorities. It is also represented on the school advising board, together with the head of the school, members of the staff and pupils.

The association organises parent meetings, which are open to all parents, in order to discuss and debate school related subjects. These are normally held in the school staff room together with coffee & tea etc.

In previous years, the Parents Association initiated the Mombus project at Johannes school. This is an anti-bullying scheme, which aims to stop bullying by involving both the children and the school in a common project. Contact was made with the scheme originator, Janne Staff, and together with the schools administration, the decision was taken to begin the Mombus scheme at Johannes. The parents and the association assisted the school in financing the scheme. Children, staff and interested parents have all received training in the scheme from Janne Staff. The association assisted in the formation of a parents Mombus Club, which has itself, arranged activates such as two Mombus-discos and a stall at the Christmas Bazaar.

The Parents Association is responsible for publication of LYNX, a school journal that is issued several times a year. The association also helps newcomers to the school, by providing information at the meetings at the start of each new school year.

Class representatives help the “Hem och skolaföreningen” to keep in contact with the class and parents, help distribute information and help with organising the Christmas Bazaar.

Membership of the Parents Association for the year 1999/2000 is 100 kr per family.
