Stockholm international 2002!

Written by Mikael Nilsson.

The judge for standards at Stockholm international 2002 was one of the most important names in American poodle world. Dr Jacklyn Hungerland is very well known both as a breeder, owner and has judged poodles at the great shows, PCA and Westminister. She has also been the president of PCA. It was a great honor when she awarded BOB to King.

Groupjudge was René Sporre Willes. She was very proud to judge King and said that if someone asked her in thirty years which dog was her all time favorite, she will answer "-The white poodle Micke showed".

King also won the group at Stockholm International in 2000 under Ellis Hulme and ended res-BIS. As this was my fifth groupwin at Stockholm, with three different dogs, it felt like it was about time to make it to the top this evening.

Judge for BIS was Swedish and English Liz Cartledge. She went over the dogs like you can expect from an international top judge. She has among else judged BIS at Crufts a few years ago. When she asked the min schnauzer Ch Ulf Van De Havenstadt to third place it felt very close. A flashback to Stockholm International 1996 when I had Ch Härbovi's Rocko Barocko and went around the last circle against Ingela with her bobtail. This time it was the same constellation but with different dogs, at the final decision at Stockholm. But this time it was our luck. Liz waved the enormous rosette towards King under huge ovations. To be on the BIS podium at Stockholm was very special. Liz and myself had a drink of Champagne and had a wonderful couple of minutes. Ingela and Per was not disappointed to "only" get reserve, it made their dog Top Dog in Sweden. So, this was the feeling to win BIS at Stockholm International!
