           Bois de Vaux Chapitre

This forest is located between the destroyed village of Fleury and Fort Vaux.
Bois de Vaux Chapitre was one of the places at the battlefield where the numbers
of dead and wounded soldiers was extreme high.
In  many of the forest in Verdun you can see war debris in tracks made by
tractors or at roadwork locations, but in Vaux forest much of the debris laying fully
visible everywhere. After months of heavy artillery shelling the ground has, even today,
very little topsoil;it contains just gravel, and everywhere is the war relics; water bottles,
shell fragments,stick-grenades,rifle and artillery amunition,personal things,shoeleather,
helmet parts,and human bones...
