Muang Carabao - Transcription
The problem with transcribing Thai is that the signs usually used for some of the Thai vowels are not available in a computer. This also means that I don´t use tone markers.
Here on Muang Carabao I use The Mary Haas system with some modifications. (I use different finals, ie. "p" instead of "b", "t" instead of "d" and "k" instead of "g") For the vowel problem, see below.

Vowels
There are mainly two problems with the transcription of the Thai vowels. ;
1) I can´t make any distinction in the vowel length of diphtongs (ia, ua ,ya) and the vowels oe and ae.
2) The vowels ÍÍ/àÍÒÐ and âÍ/âÍÐ are both transcribed as o/oo.
NOTE: I use the "zero" consonant "Í" where the consonant normally is.
ÍÍ -oo ÍØ -u àÍÕ -ia
ÍÐ -a ÍÙ -uu àÍ×Í -ya
ÍÑÍ -a àÍ -ee áÍ -ae
ÍÑÇ -ua àÍçÍ -e áÍçÍ -ae
ÍÒ -aa àÍÍ -oe âÍ -oo
ÍíÒ -am àÍÍÐ -oe âÍÐ -o
ÍÔ -i àÍÐ -e ãÍ -aj
ÍÕ -ii àÍÒ -aw äÍ -aj
ÍÖ -y àÍÒÐ -o
Í×Í -yy àÍÔÍ -oe
