RLTool revision history

2.20.3.29 (16 Mars 1999)
Trouble report 219: Profile analysis report stated No line-of-sight incorrectly. This problem is now fixed.

2.20.3.28 (23 February 1999)

Trouble report 215: RLTool could sometimes calculate reflection point above the line-of-sight.This bug is now fixed.
Trouble report 216: When deleting sites in the Network Layout, and not considering co-ordinates, a path could be place outside the Layout. This bug is now fixed. The network is now always optimized.
Trouble report 218:
The profile analysis calculation involves the calculations of the optimum antenna spacing. This calculation can under certain circumstances result in a negative value, thus leading to a program crash. This bug is now fixed.

2.20.3.27 (14 February 1999)
Trouble report 213: When ceating a new project, and changing the center point of the network layout and then place a site on the layout, RLTool would ask the user to save the project. This bug is now fixed.
Trouble report 214: When ceating a new project, and check "Consider site co-ordinates" from "Operational Mode" under "Project Data". Now, when adding two sites, connecting them, and setting the band frequency of the path to, let's say, 15 GHz, a calculation of the path would lead to a program crash. This bug is now fixed.

2.20.3.26 (22 November 1998)
On paths, where space diversity is used to protect the path against the influence of ground reflected rays, the optimum antenna spacing may be smaller than the diameter of the antennas. In this case, RLToolProPac corrects the corresponding formulas(*) with one or more wavelengths, until the optimum antenna spacing is larger than the antenna diameters. In the earlier versions of RLTool, this correction could, under certain circumstances, give a too small antenna spacing. This has been corrected now. If you have used space diversity in order to protect a path against ground reflections, and you have calculated the optimum antenna spacing with earlier versions of RLTool, you should have detected this error in the last table of the ground reflection analysis, colums "Effectiv. of selected ant at....": instead of values between 0.4 and 0.6 for the wavelength for a correct antenna spacing calculation, an incorrect wavelength factor between 0.9 and 1.1 is shown. Nevertheless, it may be advisable to check these calculations with the uppdated version of RLTool.(*) See formulas 19-21 in the 2nd part of the operator's manual.

Minor printout changes to reports:GROUND REFLEFCTION ANALYSIS, for different effective radius factors k, (considering tilted terrain)GROUND REFLEFCTION ANALYSIS, for different effective radius factors k, (no tilted terrain considered)GROUND REFLEFCTION ANALYSIS, Optimum space diversity and its effectiviness for different k factors, (no tilted terrain considered)

2.20
New functionality according to the ITU-R issued version 7 of its Recommendation P.530

2.14.x.4
A bug causing incorrect calculation of multipath fading at mountaineous condition is corrected.

2.14.x.3
Corrected a bug. When, in the Network layout, the arrow button in the tool bar is pressed, it was still possible to add sites.

2.14.x.2
In the Optimal Antenna Height dialog window: When entering data for clearance for ITU-R, and then clicking the ITU-R check box, the clearance data retored itself to the previous value. This is now corrected.
A software protection system is introduced for RLTool. A special hardware key has to be installed in the parallel printer port in order for RLTool to run. If RLTool does not detect any key lock, it will enter a Demo mode. In Demo mode no printing to paper is possible, nor saving any projects to disk.

2.14
It is now only possible to select objects on the Network Layout with the left mouse button. So when an object is selected (highlighted), pressing the right mouse button will bring up the popup-menu no matter where the mouse pointer is.
Increased the capacity of the history text input box from 255 characters to 4096.
When printing a projects profiles, only one of several profiles was printed. This is now fixed.

2.13
Terrain objects are now separated from the terrain samples. Terrain objects are now laid upon the sample profile, thus simplifying editing of terrain objects, always keeping the profile intact. Older projects terrain objects are considered part of the profile and have to be moved to the terrain object list manually.
Changes are made to the sample list and terrain object list dialogs.
One or more profiles can now be read from an external text (ASCII) file. The text file has to conform to a special syntax or format.

Quicker reading of large project files.
The drawing of a profile, once it has been drawn, goes faster now.
The Error and Warning window has now changed its name to Messages.
Some minor bugs have been fixed.
In 16-bit version, when changing a profile sample terrain type, the following sample was also changed. This is now corrected. (Rev. 5 and higher)

2.12
Added new functionality; Return Paths
Corrected a bug in dialogs for profile analysis. Optimum antenna height dialog did not react when pressing Calculate. Inserting an object caused a error message complaining about wrong distances. This was only for 32-bit version.
Corrected a bug causing a link printout to crash.
Incorrect precision in dialog for obstruction attenuation, normal path 32-bit versions only
Incorrect precision in dialog for distance all paths 16-bit versions only

Frequency diversity: If frequency spanning is greater than 5% of the band frequency, spanning is set to 5%
Space and combined space/frequency diversity; If improvment is less then factor 5, the improvment is still used as it is. Compared to setting the improvement to factor 1.
Corrected a bug in multipath fading formula.
Corrected a bug when drawing the profile analysis. Placing a tall object in the center of the path sometimes caused incorrect scaling of the profile.

Corrected a bug which caused an error in the the last 2 profile report pintouts sometimes.
Corrected a fault handling the clearance, profile report prinout number 1.
Corrected a bug which caused a crash when clicking with left mouse button in the anywhere link layout.
Corrected a bug. Memory never returned when doing a lot of UNDO/REDO actions.

2.11
Added calculation per kilometer for medium grade links
Added the possibility to change the allowance for planning objective.
Corrected the calculation of critical distances for different k-factors
Corrected a bug which caused incorrect scaling when printing, Windows 3.1 version only.

2.10
Extensive rewriting of code concering dialogs. (Only valid for Windows 95)
Additional improved RLTool DLL file version handling.
Setup of PROPAC will now associate extension *.rl with PROPAC. This makes it possible to start PROPAC from File Manager double-clicking on any rl data file (*.RL) (Windows 3.1)

2.02
Additional improved RLTool DLL file version handling.
Corrected file filter handling when browsing for equipment files from the Preferences dialog. Only for Windows 95.
Extended path distance controls for passive repeaters with 1 decimal. Now the control accepts 0.01 km input, that is 10 meter.
Path distances are now printed with 2 decimals.
Corrected elevation angle for antenna alignment calculation for very short distances.

2.01
Program crash whenever exiting RLTool after a performed profile analysis calculation.
Program chrash when a path was given instead of a file name from command line.
Incorrect handling of fixed, calculated and ignored grazing angle.
Inproper scaling when printing sometimes.
Adjusted text in preferences dialog.
Improved RLTool DLL file version handling.

2.00
First version of RLTool ProPac (Profile analysis, Performance And unavailability Calculation)
